The Story

Why Flow Exists

Flow was built to make stepping away from your phone more intentional, physical, and actually friction-heavy.

Most of us know we're on our phones too much. We feel it. That hour before bed that turns into three, the meal you ate while scrolling, the conversation you were half present for. It's not a discipline problem, some apps are just really good at keeping you distracted. And knowing that alone clearly hasn't been enough to change it.

I'm not here to lecture anyone. I pick up my phone more than I should too. But a lot of people are quietly aware that something is off, and they're looking for a way to take back a bit of control.

The idea was simple. Software solutions ask you to resist temptation, but every single one of them has an ignore button built in. A physical barrier changes that. If the thing that unblocks your apps is sitting out of reach, you have to make a conscious decision to go and get it. That pause, that small moment of friction, is usually enough. That's where the Flow Key comes in.

My mission was never to price out the consumer. I wanted to bring something to market that was affordable but still stacked with the same features (and more), you'd find on the more expensive alternatives. The companion Flow app will always be free, and there will never be subscriptions or in app purchases. It's been about a year in the making and I'm always working to make it better.
